ABOUT US

For us, it's all about family - ours, yours, and Idaho's.

Chief Executive Officer

Charles Mathews

As Epic Enterprises’ Chief Executive Officer, Charles Mathews has enjoyed a rewarding career with success in multiple industries. Realizing that the strength and value of almost every industry essentially boil down to the real estate environment, he’s driven to build businesses that can withstand fluctuating economies and markets. Charles also dedicates himself to strengthening any company by building long-lasting relationships, and his history of sustainable partnerships is a testament to that.

Charles appreciated the discipline instilled in him while growing up on a farm in Pioche, Nevada, especially when paired with the attraction of owning one’s own business. After earning a degree in construction management, Charles followed in his family’s entrepreneurial footsteps in 2000 and launched a trucking company with his brother, Truman, that they still run today. His education provided him with the basics of the processes involved in construction projects, but he owes much of his skills and principles to his hands-on professional experience. Charles realized something else that didn’t come from a textbook but from his diverse career: 80% of business principles transfer fully from one industry and business style to the next, whether working the farmland or offering financial services.

Charles has lived in Reno since attending college here. Outside of real estate, his other passion is his children. He and his wife have six total and are heavily involved in Washoe County’s foster care program, helping to fulfill a prevalent need for foster parents in their area. They provide children with a secure, temporary home while working to reunite them with their birth parents. In some instances, Charles and his family have opened their home to adoption. Charles enjoys anything in the outdoors, especially when it involves his kids.

Jarron Langston

President of Epic Development

Blessed with a “can-do” attitude, Jarron Langston believes every human being is born with divine potential, and he has always strived to live up to that promise. As Epic Development’s President, Jarron’s optimism and relentlessness — and raw talent — have helped him overcome challenges and succeed in all areas of life, including his banking and residential and commercial real estate careers.

Originally from Rochester, Minnesota, Jarron claims Texas as his hometown after spending most of his childhood and young adulthood there. His experience as an Eagle Scout and the life-changing oaths he still lives by have profoundly shaped his character. To this day, the award he received on the Eagle Scout’s behalf is the one in which he’s most proud. Jarron began his career in banking, specializing in branch management and business banking and lending. His first real estate venture was in 2002 when one of his banking colleagues convinced him to help flip a property. One flip turned into several, and the two moved into new construction by building spec homes. After heading back to banking for a few years during the housing recession, Jarron took an opportunity in 2013 to earn his license and work in commercial real estate. His education in this industry has been entirely organic, prospering through trial and error and by surrounding himself with knowledgeable, successful people.

Aside from launching Epic Development, Jarron’s first real estate project was one of his most memorable. As a leap-of-faith endeavor, Jarron transformed an old, dilapidated property in Boise into seven building lots with as many beautiful homes. Also noteworthy is a 50-acre piece of prime land that Jarron and his wife envisioned owning years before he and his business partner purchased it. Known as The Keep Subdivision, Jarron began selling its first lots in 2020 while retaining ownership of 1.5 acres to construct his and his wife’s dream home!

A father to seven kids, it may not come as a surprise that Jarron’s greatest passion is his family. He and his wife are present for every soccer, basketball, volleyball, and football game throughout the valley. Jarron also makes time for church, the outdoors, and just about anywhere else a busy family might be, but his favorite place is around the dinner table with them. Jarron is further devoted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, for which he’s held nearly life-long service and leadership roles.

Truman Mathews

COO of Epic Development

Like his brothers, Truman developed many of the tenets that have served him well in business while growing up on his family’s farm in Pioche, Nevada. Perhaps most significantly, he learned about the long-term value of real estate. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Reno, Truman launched a trucking company with his brother, Charles, that has since achieved consistent growth and a quality reputation. He learned about construction from multiple angles, including federal and state compliance, market demand, and how to fulfill that demand responsibly and with a growth mindset. Truman also observed something else: that the many business owners he got to know attributed much of their success to owning real estate, regardless of their industry.

Truman dispels the common notion that success and family business partnerships don’t mix by demonstrating that genuine effort and a positive attitude can forge alliances as strong as blood ties. Beyond his family, Truman builds lasting relationships with all industry professionals, partners, and employees. He also strives to create companies that benefit the community and the country.

Truman moved from Reno to Meridian, Idaho, in 2019 and began getting involved in the land development process. A former member of the Eagle Scouts, Truman frequently volunteers for the Boy Scouts of America. He also regularly commits to service and leadership at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Above all, Truman loves spending time with his family and honoring its legacy and values.

CFO of Epic Enterprises

William Mathews

As Epic Development’s Chief Financial Officer, William Mathews’ 20-plus years of experience owning and running several companies in different industries taught him how to adapt to the market’s cycles while continuing to grow. Much of William’s flexibility and prosperity come from his team mindset and ability to drill down into the details of challenging projects and think creatively. He loves business and respects it with the two values he believes are integral to building meaningful, long-term partnerships: honesty and integrity.

Like his brothers, William’s early years significantly influenced his adulthood. He learned about hard work while growing up on his family’s farm in Pioche, Nevada, and about the equal importance of duty, integrity, family, and community from his time as an Eagle Scout. Those ideals sustained him in college, where he graduated from the University of Nevada College of Business with the highest GPA of the entire college that semester. William joined the real estate industry in 2018 after enjoying a 15-year finance and accounting career for various sectors and at many management levels. He spent three years as a public accountant and the other 12 in private practice. William further held previous positions as chief financial officer and controller, and he was involved in multiple mergers and acquisitions on the buy- and sell-side. He’s also invested in himself by completing Strata Leadership’s ArcBest Leadership Academy program, which prepares high-potential employees for future leadership roles.

William currently lives in Sparks, Nevada. For many years, he’s worked with his church’s youth, helping kids learn, thrive, and experience the great outdoors. William enjoys running, boating, golfing, and watching sports.

President of Epic Capital

Rich Jarvis

From farming to finance, real estate to a U.S. patent holder, Rich Jarvis has demonstrated that success doesn’t come from a lack of challenges but the capacity to deal with them. As Epic Capital Fund’s President, Rich is primely positioned to steer through the ups and downs of the real estate market, especially alongside his colleagues who share his strengths, mindset, and background.

A farm boy from Meridian, Idaho, Rich learned the value of hard work early in life, and the highlight of his childhood was launching his first real business in hauling millions of pounds of hay for local dairy farmers. As Rich got older, his goals got bigger, earning an M.B.A. from Boise State University on a Pathway to Innovation scholarship and obtaining an Executive Leadership certificate from Cornell University. He’s integrated his business ownership and entrepreneurial background with 24 years in management and 13 years in the financial industry as a lender, insurance broker, financial services consultant, and product manager for a fintech company. Even Rich’s pilot experience has taught him fundamental business skills. From a sky-high vantage point, he discovered how to literally and figuratively navigate through any circumstance, make course corrections when necessary, and trust the data.

Rich’s real estate interest piqued when he rented out his first home in 2003. He’s since bolstered his knowledge by reading hundreds of books on business and real estate and working with real estate funds by sourcing and underwriting properties. Rich brings notable distinction to Epic Development, including acquiring $39M in new business, garnering top-ten producer and national recognition within his first full year in his financial services practice, and patenting the Electronic Personal Record, a secure information sharing platform delivering control of data back to the consumer.

Rich doesn’t have to look beyond his family — which consists of his wife, Rebecca, and five beautiful children — for his greatest inspiration. He’s also an avid volunteer, dedicating five to ten hours each week to local church and youth programs, including the YMCA. Rich enjoys waterskiing, cryptocurrency, and triathlons, having competed in five Ironman 70.3 Triathlons and winning second place in his age group.

President of Epic Construction

Tyson Baker

With a construction career spanning more than 25 years, Tyson Barker is right at home as Epic Development’s Vice President of Construction. From his family farm upbringing to managing multi-million dollar properties, Tyson is no stranger to rolling up his sleeves to get the job done while doing it with honesty, integrity, and an infinite degree of hard work.

Tyson’s interest in construction began while growing up on his family’s dairy and land farm in Utah. He learned the value of hard work and sacrifice from his parents, and he found the inspiration to pursue construction professionally from his oldest brother who was in the business. Tyson began his career while majoring in graphic design at Utah State University, but he eventually decided to work in construction exclusively, bypassing a degree in favor of education through hands-on experience.

Starting out as a concrete laborer, Tyson subsequently learned many trades and held many job titles, including project engineer, operations manager, and senior project manager for multiple companies. One of Tyson’s early career highlights was a culturally-rich experience in building boat docks in Florida, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas. More recently, he led the design and build of 18 charter schools throughout five states and overcame supply chain and manpower shortages during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to complete one of his largest projects — an upscale $37MM multi-family property — on time and under budget. Regardless of what is at stake, Tyson keeps his eye on the big picture while remaining acutely aware of details, accuracy, and transparency. His idea of a successful project doesn’t begin or end with its monetary value or size. He appreciates the importance of every transaction and how personal it is to everyone involved.

Born in Utah, Tyson had lived in Nevada, California, Washington, and Florida before moving back to his home state. In his downtime, Tyson enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, rockhounding, wake surfing, golf, playing guitar, woodworking, and exploring obscure and interesting historical spots. Tyson also looks for ways to help others, including arranging a yearly Christmas music program with his family for a local assisted living center.
